Experienced bar staff for on-call event work
Please note: We define on-call work as being able to commit to an event shift several weeks in advance and follow through. We do not schedule you proactively, but in return we expect that you have control over your schedule to commit to shifts you have signed up for.
Bite Catering Couture is looking for thoughtful and detail-oriented bar staff experienced in executing high end events. This is an on-call position that allows you to accept shifts that fit with your schedule. Those shifts may be for off-premise events or at one of our venues.
We are looking for front of house team members able to deliver at a high standard and high level of service while being able to follow process. In our case, that may involve loading out from our commissary or setting up in one of our venues (leads) or showing up and getting your station ready for the event. We offer a warm, personable team service, occasionally have a need for flair or model bar staff, and operate in a special event pre-paid/ no tip jar context.
Bite offers a boutique catering company with a very detailed approach to staffing and planning, which means that you get to run events off of a plan rather than the seat of your pants. Part of providing great service to our clients is understanding how to interact with them given our roles, being able to correctly answer questions about the menu items you're serving, and otherwise providing a high level of energy, professionalism, and service.

Success in this role generally looks like:
- Experience with providing warm + efficient bar service at special events
- Understanding of 5 star service
- Knowledge of how to make all common drink requests and follow recipes when required
- Comfortable and physically able to move tables, carry ice, move bars, remove trash and set-up bar - all with a sense of urgency to client timeline
- Ability to buy into an established process
- Ability to both accept and provide constructive feedback
- Familiarity with setting up bars for off-premise events
- Physical ability to participate in the essential physical duties of the job including load/ unload and set-up for off-premise events
- TIPS certification

The role
This is an on-call bar staff position. Depending on your interest and availability, many of our staff also opt into other available event roles at our company (ie, captain, wait staff, deliveries)

Our tagline is “Designed Thoughtfully. Crafted Lovingly. Presented Beautifully.” Our events reflect this across a range of different service levels (delivery to high end full-service) and themes (we’re known for a number of our thematic menus like high tea, small bites, and holidays).
As mentioned, we're pretty detailed for the industry. So expect to get pretty detailed information about what type of event you'll be walking into and some specifics about what (and who) matter to make this event a success.
Requirements
- Must have a reliable method of transportation, valid license and clean driving record
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs repetitively
- Fluent in English
- Excellent knowledge of food, drink, and service
- TIPS certification for bartenders
Compensation
Hourly bartender event rates between $25-30/hour depending on experience and capabilities + event bonus.
