Bite Catering Couture is looking for thoughtful and detail-oriented catering captains experienced in leading teams at high end events.

We are looking for captains experienced in leading off-premise front of house teams to deliver a high standard and high level of service while being able to follow process. We're also opening a venue, so there may be something that feels more on-premise as well as it gets going.

Bite offers a boutique catering company with a very detailed approach to staffing and planning, which means that you get to run events off of a plan rather than the seat of your pants. While we know live events may not unfold exactly as planned, we do our best to remove the errors, mistakes, and "winging-it" that cause unnecessary stress at events done by other companies. The tradeoff is participating in said process - we have pretty extensive expectations around client check-ins and check-outs, pre-event setup, and post-event feedback.

Success in this role generally looks like:

  • Previous history leading front of house teams at high end events
  • Understanding of 5 star service
  • Great judgement under pressure (and the ability to smoothly redirect onsite contacts who may still struggle with that skill under pressure)
  • Ability to buy into an established process
  • Ability to both accept and provide constructive feedback

The role

This is an on-call catering captain position. Depending on your interest and availability, most of our captains also opt into other available event roles at our company

Our tagline is “Designed Thoughtfully. Crafted Lovingly. Presented Beautifully.” Our events reflect this across a range of different service levels (delivery to high end full-service) and themes (we’re known for a number of our thematic menus like high tea, small bites, and holidays).

As mentioned, we're pretty detailed for the industry. So expect to get pretty detailed information about what type of event you'll be walking into and some specifics about what (and who) matter to make this event a success.

Requirements

  • Must have a reliable method of transportation, valid license and clean driving record
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs repetitively
  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent knowledge of food, drink, and service

Compensation

Hourly captain event rates between $28-35/hour DOE + event bonus
