Opened in 1913. the Natural History Museum is located in Downtown LA right next to the USC Coliseum. Governed by the State of CA, the museum is the largest natural and historical museum in the western United States in addition to operating as a research and educational institution. It’s architectural style is described as Beaux Arts, Neoclassical, Romanesque, and Spanish Lateresque. The interior of the property has been widely used for filming, including for TV shows “Bones,” “Scandal,” and “How I Met Your Mother.”
The museum has 3 floors of permanent exhibits. There are 5 indoor spaces that are used for special events and rentals as well as 1 courtyard/garden area. The different combination of spaces for different portions of event lead to various possibilities for event flow.. In addition to use of event rooms, client get access to first floor exhibits that guests can walk through; for an additional fee, clients can also gain access to second floor exhibits. There are a few conferences spaces available during the daytime and most social and wedding celebrations take place after 5pm, when the museum is already closed to the public.
